Premiere Date for Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

A couple weeks ago, Nickelodeon released the first trailer for its new animated reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now, the network has set a premiere date for the CG show and will be airing two back-to-back episodes on Saturday, September 29 at 11am.

According to EW.com's Inside TV, Nick has created 26 half-hour episodes featuring a funnier, quirkier team of turtles: Leonardo (American Pie's Jason Biggs), Raphael (The Lord of the Rings' Sean Astin), Michelangelo (Teen Titan's Greg Cipes), and Donatello (Rob Paulsen, the original voice of Raphael in the '80s and '90s cartoon).

Rounding out the cast is Mae Whitman as April O'Neil, Hoon Lee as Master Splinter and Kevin Michael Richardson as Shredder.

What Spider-Man and the Lizard Almost Looked Like

And the Amazing Spider-Man news just keeps coming… First up: It sounds like Sony is positioning the reboot as the first part of a trilogy. Or their marketing department is anyway.

The film's official Facebook page posted the following on Monday: "The Amazing Spider-Man is the first installment in a movie trilogy that will explore how our fave hero's journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents." That messaging is then followed by a call to buy tickets, so while it might sound like a confirmation that there will be two more films in the series, it strikes me as more of a left-corporate-hand not knowing what the right-corporate-hand is doing kind of thing. Time will tell.

Of more interest, though, is the appearance online today of some concept art for the film that reveals what Spider-Man and the Lizard could've looked like. First up, via Movies.com, some alternate designs from The Aaron Sims Company:

This next one is based on actor Chris Cooper (for some reason):

And here's an interesting take on Spidey which feels much more tied into the original Sam Raimi costume:

Meanwhile, io9 uncovered some concepts from artist Eddie Yang and George Hull. Check out the very 2099 web-cape on that one Spidey below:

Spy Hunter Reboot Coming to 3DS and Vita

A reboot of arcade classic Spy Hunter is coming to Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

The announcement comes on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the original, with the new title promising to be the "most thrilling and dangerous ride yet". As with the original, the player will take control of the "Agent", who drives a high-tech super car equipped with advanced weaponry. His mission? Well, naturally it's to take on a global terrorist organisation with its sights set on world domination. Once again the car will be able to transform into a speed boat as well as an off-road assault vehicle.

Spy Hunter is being developed by TT Fusion and will be released this autumn.

Ryan Reynolds is the Highlander?

Chalk up Ryan Reynolds to yet another potential franchise film. This time, the actor is being eyed for the lead in Lionsgate-Summit's reboot of Highlander.

The actor is currently at the top of the studios' wish list for the remake. Variety reports that both parties are currently in serious negotiations for the film. However, it's still unclear if an official offer has been made. Insiders claim that Reynolds is also still weighing other offers and that he could end up pursuing another project.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is already set to direct the film, which has yet to be paired with any plot details. The original series followed an immortal swordsman who battled other immortal swordsman through the centuries.
