Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. #11 Preview

The adventures of Frankenstein and company continues next week under the leadership of new writer Matt Kindt. In issue #11, it seems Frank and Nina will be getting swallowed by a "whale-beast" called Leviathan that holds a city within it. This is exactly why we dig Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. -- its crazy, bizarre concepts.

Issue #11 hits on Wednesday.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #12 Review

Whether on purpose or not, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man celebrates Independence Day with an explosive issue that shows the tension between Miles Morales and his Uncle Aaron finally come to a head. Brian Michael Bendis has been brewing this conflict ever since Aaron figured out his nephew was the new Spider-Man and saw it as an opportunity to escalate his criminal career. Like the best fights, this one carries great personal weight that makes each blow as impactful as the dialog spoken throughout. Miles has been unsure of a lot of things since becoming Spider-Man, but here he fully understands what what kind of man his uncle is and what it will take to stand up to him.

David Marquez continues to deliver more superb imagery for this series. Many panels highlight subtle moments in lieu of dialog: Aaron’s lip curling in anger and Miles’s eyes expressing inner turmoil while embracing his mother, not to mention the phenomenal closing page that brings the entire issue home in a big way. Marquez not only makes this the best looking Ultimate Comics title, but one of the best looking titles being put out at Marvel.

With such excellent character moments throughout this issue, it is a shame Bendis again does not come through with action that matches their high quality. Like Miles’s encounter with Scorpion, this battle suffers from repetition and lack of creativity. Aaron has proven to be a Jack of All Trades with his plethora of stolen super villain gear, so when he uses such straightforward tactics to combat Miles it makes him lose all the cred he built up. That said, the emotional beats in the issue were so strong that it doesn’t hurt the issue too much. If anything, it puts the stakes of the fight above the fisticuffs, and isn’t that what we’re always asking for in comics these days?

Castevania: Mirror of Fate Confirmed for 3DS

The latest issue of Nintendo Power is out, and some subscribers have already started to receive this month's edition. So what's on the cover? None other than that rumored Castlevania game for 3DS the internet has been buzzing about.

The game is called Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. Try saying 10 times fast. The magazine reveals that Mirror of Fate's Belmont of choice will be Trevor Belmont. He will fight using his version of the Combat Cross, Gabriel's weapon from the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Mirror of Fate exists!

Other small details unveiled by the magazine (thanks to GoNintendo for the above scan) include the fact that light and shadow magic will be returning from the original Lords of Shadow. Using the L, R and face buttons, players will be able to attack with various weapons, grab enemies, block and dodge. Earning experience points will unlock the ability to execute combo moves, like launching enemies into the air, smashing them into the ground and so on.

For all your Belmont needs, keep it locked on IGN.

Diablo III game-breaking bug found

Gamers have found a game-breaking bug in Blizzard Entertainment's just-released Diablo III. The issue triggers Error 3006, which boots users from Diablo III servers and prohibits them from logging back in, according to reports on the Battle.net forums.

As detailed on Blizzard's Diablo III known issue page, while playing a Demon Hunter, players who equip a shield to a Templar follower run the risk of being disconnected from the game's servers. Blizzard is currently investigating the issue, and according to the company's European customer service Twitter feed, a fix is on the way.

Diablo III launched today for the PC and Mac. It is the first title in the series since 2001's Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion and adds a variety of new features, character classes, and a new auction house system, which charge gamers a range of fees. It launched without player-vs.-player multiplayer, and set preorder records at Blizzard and Amazon. For more on Diablo III, check out GameSpot's latest preview.

Is Kingdom Hearts Coming Back to Consoles?

The next Kingdom Hearts game could finally see the series make its long-awaited return to consoles, according to a new interview.

In the new issue of Game Informer, series director Tetsuya Nomura said he felt "it's about time" that the Kingdom Hearts series had another outing on consoles.

Talking about the current direction of the series, he explained, "The PS Vita is definitely a powerful device that is very interesting, but because of its high power, there isn't much of a difference with a console. So even if we were to make a game, we would have to be very careful about how to create it for that device.

"I also feel that it's about time that Kingdom Hearts should go back to being on a console."

The last time the Disney/Square hybrid had an outing on consoles was in 2004 with Kingdom Hearts 2. It's too soon to tell whether Kingdom Hearts 3 would make it onto this generation of consoles or the next, but Nomura has some advice for anyone wanting to know more.

He said, "I'm not able to disclose any information on what's coming next or any other future plans, but you may be able to find a hint if you play through Dream Drop Distance to the very end."

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will launch on the 3DS in Europe on July 20th.

Thanks, VH247.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge Spin-Off Announced

A Hitman spin-off, Sniper Challenge, has been announced in a US magazine.

The latest issue of Game Informer contains an advert for the title, which features a replayable sniper mission and online scoreboards. There's also the lure of as-yet unnamed prizes for the top marksmen, along with an exclusive upgradeable rifle that may be used in the main game.

If you want to start looking down the scope, you need to pre-order Hitman: Absolution. This gets you a code that will allow you to play Sniper Challenge on the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.

Hopefully we'll be able to bring you more news on Thursday: developers IO Interactive yesterday tweeted that they had a "major" Hitman: Absolution announcement to make then.

Company Of Heroes 2 Fights Nazis On The Russian Front In Early 2013

We already know that an upcoming issue of PC Gamer (UK edition) will cover the first details of Relic Entertainment's Company of Heroes 2, but now THQ confirms it in an official press release that outs the game for an early 2013 launch. The sequel will stick to its predecessor's World War II setting, though the action will now be moving out of Western Europe and over to the front lines in Russia.

The original Company of Heroes remains one of the strongest and most immediately accessible real-time strategy games around. Its strong focus on small unit tactics and control point-based map conquests offered lots of good times. The sequel's focus on the Eastern Front will leverage the power of the new Essence 3.0 Engine and introduce new features like Dynamic Battle Tactics and Commander Abilities. Look for more info on Company of Heroes 2 soon.
