Microsoft's ExpertZone Reveals Halo 4 Details

An educational slideshow hosted on Microsoft's ExpertZone - a site designed to bring retailers up-to-speed with its products - has revealed new information about Halo 4.

So what do we know now that we didn't already know? The quiz reveals that Halo 4 will have 10 new weapons. A couple of these - The Light rifle and Scattershot - were already revealed during Microsoft's E3 press conference. Interestingly, one of the slides reveals that  for "the first time, the Master Chief will have a true nemesis" and that players will fight against "a new race, unlike anything seen before in Halo".

There will also be "2 new vehicles plus many of your favorites from the past".

That's still a bit sketchy, admittedly. But there are some concrete details relating to Spartan Ops, which is Halo 4's TV series-style DLC experience. 50 missions will be released per 'season', with five missions dropping every week for 10 weeks. Each mission is said to be "introduced with a high-quality cinematic video so that you are well-briefed before you embark on your mission." And with series 1 of Spartan Ops is 100% free, it's being described as "like getting two campaigns with one game".

UK Prices for Nintendo's 3DS XL Emerge

Following yesterday's reveal of the revamped handheld, Nintendo announced it would let UK retailers decide for themselves how much they'd charge for the 3DS XL and now the prices have started appearing.

Play.com was the first to reveal a cost, listing the blue model as available for pre-order at £179.99.  ShopTo has all three models (blue, red and silver) available at £179.84, though the RRP of the device is labelled as £199.99.

This is conflicted by Zavvi's offering, which also covers all models, but states they will be sold at £209.95, reduced from an RRP of £249.99.

It's safe to assume that Nintendo probably hasn't confirmed the RRP with its retail partners in the UK, which has led to the confusion.  The RRP for the United States is listed as $199, which converts to roughly £128.

The European package comes without an AC adapter but will be released on July 28th, three weeks earlier than in America.

Halo 4 Pre-order Bonuses Revealed

Over the last week retailers have begun to reveal various pre-order bonuses for the much-anticipated Halo 4.

Interestingly, many of them are customisable armour and weapon skins, avoiding any potential controversy of giving an unfair advantage to players who choose to pay for their copy of the game in advance.

You can see a full range of the skins that will be on offer in the latest Halo Bulletin. Details of where you'll be able to get specific skins will be released in the coming weeks, but this thread on the Halo forum has an up-to-date of where to get what.

Halo 4 will be released worldwide on November 6th, 2012.
