Is a Halo 2 HD Remake on the Way?

A new rumor suggests that 343 Industries is developing a Halo 2 Anniversary edition. According to the UK print edition of Official Xbox Magazine, "Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary.”

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary hit stores last November and offered a full HD remake of the original game with added Kinect and online functionality in honor of its ten year anniversary. Halo 2 was originally released in November 2004, but Microsoft would presumably release the remake a year or two ahead of its ten year milestone.

We reached out to Microsoft for comment and a spokesperson told us “Our focus right now is on developing Halo 4. Beyond that, we do not comment on rumors or speculation.”

NiGHTS Into Dreams HD Remake Confirmed

Sega has confirmed that an HD remake of Saturn classic NiGHTS Into Dreams is indeed on the way, and will be released via Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and PC digital download this Autumn.

Originally released in 1996, NiGHTS Into Dreams is one of Sega's most fondly-remembered games, and fans have been clamouring for a new one for years, not sated by a Japan-only PS2 remake and a Wii sequel in 2007. IGN reported that this remake may well be on the cards just a few days ago, after Sega posted a mysterious, NiGHTS-suggestive image on its Facebook page.

This new version will include an optional "Saturn mode" that will let you experience the game in its original form, if that's your thing.

NiGHTS joins Jet Set Radio Future, which is also being re-released in HD later this summer, in Sega's line-up of HD remakes. An HD remake of Shenmue for XBLA and PSN has also been heavily rumoured, but not confirmed.

Rez HD Developer Behind Okami HD

Japanese studio HexaDrive is working with Capcom on the recently-announced HD remake of Okami.

And it's a studio with pedigree when it comes to porting classic games into high definition, overseeing the successful Xbox Live remastering of Rez HD back in 2008.

Take a look at its work on Rez HD in the video below:

While the Osaka-based studio might be a small, it can boast Masakazu Matsushita - a former Capcom employee and lead programmer on the likes of Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 3 and Power Stone 2 - amongst its ranks.

Okami HD is coming exclusively toPlayStation 3 this autumn for £15.99 ($19.99) and will support the Move motion controller.

Leisure Suit Larry HD Delayed Into Early 2013 Ads By Google » Blog Tags Today's Most Popular Videos »

Leisure Suit Larry HD Announced

The successfully Kickstarted HD remake of Leisure Suit Larry was originally planned for an October 2012 release, but a new update confirms that the game now won't be arriving until early 2013. The word comes from Replay Studios CEO Paul Trowe, who cites the additional content being added to the game as the reason for the delay.

The additional content is coming because backers stepped up and gave more than $150,000 beyond the originally requested $500,000 goal. There's a lesson here: don't be so giving! I kid, I kid. Any Larry fan ought to be excited to see "more rooms, another girl, and all new dialogue" being added to the game. Trowe also revealed that you can all look for future updates on the project right in Replay's forums. It's a shame about the delay, but at least it's in the name of adding new content, right?
