Duncan Jones Targets James Bond Creator

Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones will direct a biopic about James Bond creator Ian Fleming.

The Hollywood Reporter says the project, announced at this week's Cannes film festival, will focus on the author's early years as a British naval intelligence officer during World War II and how his commando days inspired his greatest literary creation.

The film will be based on Andrew Lycett's biography Ian Fleming, The Man Behind James Bond.

"Fleming lived through one of the most perilous periods in world history, in a position that allowed him a unique vantage point of all the players, all the stakes. He witnesses true heroism first-hand. And he saw the evil men could do," said Jones. "Then, when the war ended, he went off to write fiction. The essential question for me is where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?"

Beyond Good & Evil 2 Will Most Likely Be A Next Gen Title Ads By Google » Blog Tags Today's Most Popular Videos »

Beyond Good & Evil 2 Being Released After March 2010

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in the works, but according to Ubisoft's Michel Ancel, it will probably be a next-generation title. Ancel, the creator of Rayman, confirmed the game was still in development in an interview. He also mentioned Beyond Good & Evil 2 would require better tech than what the current generation of consoles can offer.

Based on translations, it sounds like yes, the game is very much in the works. Ubisoft wants to make sure this game is ambitious as possible, and they need the proper tech to support the camera angles, graphics, and combat they want. Since a next-gen console hasn't been announced yet, they can't announce which platforms it will be on, or even what year it will launch.

Below you'll see a concept trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2. Ancel commented on the video's Mirror's Edge vibe, but Ancel denied that game was an inspiration. The concept for the video was created before Mirror's Edge was released. Ancel even added Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia were closer to the concept of BG&E2.

I can definitely see Ubisoft using Beyond Good & Evil 2 has a next gen launch title. I think that would be great for console sales. But next-gen consoles are a ways off still, so Beyond Good & Evil fans are going to have to wait a while, maybe even a few more years.

Do you think Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be worth the wait?

EA 'destroying' gaming, says Minecraft creator

FIFA, Battlefield, and Mass Effect publisher Electronic Arts is "destroying" gaming, according to Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson.
Persson sounded off today via his Twitter feed about EA's newly launched Indie Bundle, which is presently available on Steam. Notch said, "EA releases an "indie bundle"? That's not how that works, EA. Stop attempting to ruin everything, you bunch of cynical bastards."

Persson later said his studio, Mojang, is no longer indie (something he had alluded to earlier), and offered a more damning take on EA.

"Indies are saving gaming. EA is methodically destroying it," he said.

[UPDATE] After the publication of this story, Persson dispatched a tweet of clarification. He wrote, "I got into trouble on the interwebs again! The games in the bundle are good, I'm not questioning them. I'm questioning EA."

Persson is not the first to speak out publicly against EA. Earlier this year, readers of consumer affairs blog The Consumerist named EA the "worst company in America," following more than 250,000 votes.

The EA Indie Bundle in reference launched this week on Steam, and includes DeathSpank, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, Gatling Gears, Shank, Shank 2, and Warp for $20.98. The offer expires on May 9.
