Comic-Con: Come See IGN's Channel Surfing Podcast Recorded Live!

Gonna be at San Diego Comic-Con next week? If so, I hope you can come to a live recording of Channel Surfing, the IGN TV podcast! I’ll be recording the podcast on Saturday, July 14th from 1:00pm-2:00pm at the new Warner Bros. “Extra at Comic-Con” stage in San Diego’s Bayfront Park, right by the San Diego Convention Center.

I’ll be joined by some very special guests, starting off with two guys who double as both the creator and star of their respective Adult Swim series, Childrens Hospital’s Rob Corddry and NTSF:SD:SUV’s Paul Scheer. I’ll then be chatting with a trio who are very familiar to Supernatural fans: Misha Collins, Jim Beaver and Mark Sheppard. We’ll talk about what’s to come on their shows in the coming season and what their experience is like at the always jam-packed Con-Con.

Supernatural's Jim Beaver ("Bobby") and Misha Collins ("Castiel") will be among the guests at the Comic-Con live recording of IGN's Channel Surfing

The Channel Surfing live recording will be one of many events planned for the Warner Bros./Extra stage, including a live Kevin Smith podcast, musical performances from The Bacon Brothers and contestants from The Voice, screenings of films like Beetlejuice, and a Chuck table read (Chuck may be gone, but it’s not forgotten!).

Apple Debuts Brand New Podcasts App

Apple today released a podcast app that allows you a simpler way to find, subscribe, and listen to podcasts natively on your iOS device.

Unfortunately, the podcast app shoots you straight into the Podcast section of the iTunes store as soon as you try to download anything – instead of letting you download natively inside the app.

However, if you already subscribe to a bunch of podcasts, then the app will supply you with a much, much better catalog option.

Top Stations is a new feature that allows for an easy way to discover new stations, and you can loop back ten seconds, loop forward thirty seconds, or even set a Sleep Timer – which will automatically stop playing a podcast after a while (in case you love to fall asleep to Tech Fetish).

Perhaps best of all is a speed adjustment that lets you fly through podcasts at much faster or slower speeds, turning your favorite IGN podcasters into chipmunks or monsters, depending on your mood.

The app is free and has been optimized for iPhone 3GS and newer, as well as iPod touches (3rd generation or newer), and iPads (sporting iOS 5.1 or later).

If you have even a passing interest in podcasts, head to iTunes to download this app. And while you’re at it, make sure to take a look at all of IGN’s awesome podcasts, right here on IGN.

The Last of Us: A Tale of Two Ellies

It's been a big week for The Last of Us. A cutscene debuted, IGN saw gameplay for the first time, I reenacted the demo, and Podcast Beyond spent a show talking about developer Naughty Dog's latest.

After delving further into the game’s narrative over the past few months, we decided to modify Ellie’s model...

But the folks behind The Last of Us also sat down with IGN and went through an extensive Q&A session -- which touched on why Naughty Dog changed Ellie's character model.

"After delving further into the game’s narrative over the past few months, we decided to modify Ellie’s model to better reflect [actress] Ashley [Johnson]’s personality, and also resemble a slightly younger teen more fitting to the story," said creative director Neil Druckmann. "We're happy with the final result shown in the cinematic we have released today, and hope the fans like her too."

Trouble was, a lot of you sounded off in the comments that you didn't notice a difference between December Ellie and May Ellie. So, I went through both trailers again for a comparison. Check out the images below and let us know in the comments what you think of the change.
