Act of Valor Director's Need for Speed

Act of Valor director Scott Waugh is in talks to helm DreamWorks' adaptation of Need for Speed.

We first heard about the Need for Speed movie last month, when reports materialized that the Electronic Arts title was being developed by George and John Gatins and being modeled after the Fast and Furious franchise. George wrote the script and John will produce with EA. John recently co-wrote Real Steel for DreamWorks.

I suppose the question now is whether or not Waugh, who co-directed Act of Valor with Mike McCoy, will go with a similar down-and-dirty, you-are-there approach on Need for Speed. Who knows, maybe that's the right way to do one of these videogame adaptations -- low cost with potentially big rewards.
