Test Drive a Robot in the Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Demo

The demo for Sega's upcoming Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is now available on Xbox Live for Gold subscribers, so there's no time like the present to find the right walking World War III tank for you. If you're stuck at work or on the commute, you can queue up the download right now. Don't forget your Kinect -- Steel Battalion requires it in conjunction with a controller, and it's an intriguing setup.

I wasn't thrilled by the Kinect controls when I last played Heavy Armor, but only because it was sluggish. In concept, this is a brilliant use of the motion device, and it creates a sense of involvement you wouldn't get using just a controller. That's remarkable in itself, and you can see if the detection's changed, or if you don't have any issues, by playing Steel Battalion yourself.

Heavy Armor hits June 19 in the U.S. and June 22 in Europe.
