Another Lego Movie in the Works

Phil Lord and Chris Miller may already be developing a Lego movie with Warner Bros., but now Universal is working on their own film based on Lego's Hero Factory robot toys.

Scribes Michael Finch and Alex Litvak, best known for writing 2010's Predators, are currently in negotiations to pen the screenplay for the project, which would be produced by the Mark Gordon Company and Film 360. And unlike other Lego properties, Hero Factory comes with its own dense mythology to pull from along with its own distinct storyline.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the characters which hail from a planet "where a factory churns out robotic machines whose goal is to fight intergalactic evil. The heroes include characters such as Stormer, Bulk, Stringer, Furno and Breez with villains having monikers such as XPlode, Corroder, Meltdown and Von Nebular -- a good guy gone rogue."

The original toy line was created as a replacement to Lego's Bionicle line and features 55 sets. In addition to toys, the Hero Factory line also includes comics, a computer app and a theme park. The film would be a live-action adaptation set in the world of the established anthology.
