App Store Update: May 22

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

Game Debuts

Webbies – ($0.99)

Don’t be fooled by its sugary-sweet art style. Webbies is a clever action-puzzler built around a slingshotting gameplay premise.

Zombie Ace – ($0.99)

Zombie Ace is the latest from Hothead Games. Pick your zombie pilot, upgrade your plane and infect 14 U.S. cities. Don’t expect an easy ride, though. Bombers, tanks and natural hazards like lightning storms well test your undead pilot’s skills.

Price Drops

Battleship for iPad – ($1.99)

The iPad port of Hasbro’s classic ship-sinking board game has been discounted from its normal $4.99 asking price for a limited time.

Neuroshima Hex Puzzle – ($0.99)

Perhaps to promote the giant multiplayer update to the original Neuroshima Hex, developer Big Daddy’s Creations has dropped this single player puzzle spin-off to just $0.99.

Dizzy Wizards – (Free)

Dizzy Wizards is a little bit like Lemmings, but with truly ridiculous levels of violence. The title has gone free for the first time since it launched last summer.

iBomber – (Free)

iBomber is one of the App Store’s original hits – it launched three years ago, way back in May 2009. These days hit iOS games are much bigger and more sophisticated. Gamers that missed iBomber or just want to see what used to constitute the top tier of mobile games should grab this while it’s free.

Updates

Smart and stylish puzzle platformer Super Lemonade Factory has received its first big update, introducing a new set of levels. We raved about this one yesterday when it dropped to free. It’s still free for a limited time so don’t miss it!
